1. The City Mouse and the Country Mouse
Once there were two mice. They were good friends. One lived in the country, and the other lived in the city.
One day, the country mouse invited the city mouse to his home in the country. The city mouse went. But he said, “I don’t like your house. It’s very small and dirty. I don’t like your food too. It’s terrible. You must come to my home in the city. It’s much better than yours.”

The six-year-old John was terribly spoiled . His father knew it, but his grandma doted on him. He hardly left her side. And when he wanted anything, he either cried or threw a temper tantrum. Then came his first day of school, his first day away from his grandmother's loving arms.
When he came home from school his grandma met him at the door.
"Was school all right?" she asked, "Did you get along all right? did you cry?"
"Cry?" John asked. "No, I didn't cry, but the teacher did!"
