优质解答

Dear David

I’m glad to receive your letter and know you’re learning the Chinese culture. The pictures you have seen in the blog show the Chinese traditional virtue that the children should be dutiful to the parents.

In Picture One a young father is washing feet for his old mother setting a good example for his little son. And in Picture Two the son who has grown up is helping his father by the arm who has turned old. That’s to say the son is dutiful to his father as his father does to his mother in Picture One.

In my opinion the pictures tell us that if we are dutiful to the old when we are young our next generation will carry forward the fine tradition.

I hope my explanation can be helpful to you and look forward to your reply.
