A: I am just considering whether to take part in the oral English contest held on campus. On the one hand, I hope to enhance my oral English speaking in this contest, one the other hand, I am afraid it is much harder for me to perform well enough. If you were I, how would you do?
B: Every time I meet with difficulty, I keep talking to myself that I can not grow up if I deliberately avoid doing so. If you look back and see what you have achieved and what you have missed, you will find there is no exception that you can succeed if you escape from difficulty.
A: I know what you mean, but it is pretty hard to focus all my attention on the contest. I can not help imagining the horrible scene where I was performing terribly.
B: Hah hah. You can also imagine more the scene where you were performing excellently than horribly. To some extent, candidates of the same level performed differently mainly because they hold different opinions in this issue.
A: I can not agree with you more. I was just imagining the optimistic result and gain much confidence. Well, there still exists another problem. The contest includes one part that we must debate on one certain subject with each other in English. I have never experienced a contest like this, what should I do if I am stuck in particular word?
B: It seems much different from the problem we have discussed before. I suggest that the more practice you have taken, the more calmly you will perform during the contest. Sometimes we are afraid because we know we can not achieve success if we do not work harder. So action speaks louder than words. Practice helps you approach success.
A: Thank you for your deep and considerate analysis on all this. I hope you can cheer me on on that day and so I can perform better, OK?
B: Of course, see you then!
